Jocelyn Wilder is a senior research scientist in the Academic Research Center at NORC at the University of Chicago. Her background is in epidemiology with a focus in social epidemiology. Her research interests include the effects of structural racism and place on health throughout the life course. She would like to expand her research to the examination of how space is racialized through de jure and de facto policies and behavior (individual and societal) and the role it plays in health and wellness throughout the life course. She has worked with the UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust (URMBT), Michigan Public School Employees' Retirement System (MPSERS) and Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare Advantage programs examining the association between SDOH and disease prevalence and access to services. This research was aimed at developing actionable solutions to address barriers to care for older adults. Jocelyn’s work with National Social Life, Health, and Aging Project (NSHAP) examines racial/ethnic health disparities and the effects of poly pharmacy on health.
