Hannelore obtained her Master in Adult Educational Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in 2019 with greatest distinction, and after working as scientific staff within the research group for one year, she started her PhD in 2020, funded by the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO).
Her research focuses on the relation between childlessness and loneliness among older adults, and on how reasons for childlessness moderate this relation. For this research, both quantitative and qualitative methods (life story interviews) are used.
Hannelore was also closely involved in the evaluation of 35 caring communities in Flanders and Brussels, funded by the King Baudouin Foundation (Fund Dr. Daniƫl De Coninck).
