J. Jill Suitor Ph.D., is Distinguished Professor of Sociology and a Faculty Associate of the Center on Aging and the Life Course at Purdue University. Her research focuses on the effects of intergenerational relations on psychological and physical well-being. Her work has been supported by the National Institute on Aging, the National Institute of Mental Health, and the Spencer Foundation, and has resulted in the publication of 150 journal articles and contributions to edited volumes. Since 2001, she has led the Within Family Differences Study (WFDS), an NIH-supported 3-wave panel investigation of the causes and health consequences of within-family differences and parental favoritism and disfavoritism in more than 550 multigenerational families.
