Dr. Ana-Maria Vranceanu is a clinical health psychologist, Associate Professor of Psychology at Harvard Medical School, and Founding Director of the Center for Health Outcomes and Interdisciplinary Research (CHOIR). at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School (MGH/HMS). She is also the James and Elizabeth Gamble Endowed Chair Co-Director (Psychiatry) for MassGeneral Neurosciences, and Co-director for Grants Consultation and Support within the Department of Psychiatry. She is an expert in the development, testing and implementation of behavioral and lifestyle intervention for older adults, their caregivers, and dyads. She works primarily with older adults with chronic pain and neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia. To date she has developed 6 interventions (2 dyadic) which are in various stages of the NIH stage model.
Dr. Vranceanu has served as Principal Investigator (PI) for over 40 research grants (including 1o R01s) and has published more than 250 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Vranceanu gets joy from mentoring and training junior investigators. Dr. Vranceanu has a mid-career mentoring award (NCCIH K24) focused on mentoring interdisciplinary trainees at MGH and nationally. She developed and runs a “K club” that includes 17 mentees from various disciplines who are either K awardees or in the process of preparing or submitting K awards.She co-leads the Lifespan Health Track of the APA approved Clinical Psychology Internship at MGH, a T32 in behavioral intervention development in aging and serious illness, as well as the Research and Education Core of the MGH Dementia Resource Center for Minority Aging Research (RCMAR).
