My major research focus has been to improve quality of life for older adults with chronic conditions, as well as their caregivers. My research has demonstrated the necessity for effective nonpharmacological interven¬tions for older adults with chronic conditions, including osteoarthritis and dementia, to reduce long-term use of medica¬tions, minimize possible associated drug adverse events, and improve brain health, chronic pain and mental health, and quality of life.
I have the leadership and scientific expertise in nonpharmacological management for community-dwelling older adults with chronic conditions to improve their physical function and psychosocial well-being. CY is an effective nonpharmacological mind-body intervention for older adults. I have completed intervention studies on CY with older adults with osteoarthritis or dementia.
