Profile: Keiko Katagiri, Ph.D.
Dr. Keiko Katagiri is the Director at the Advanced Research Center for Well-being of Kobe University, and the Professor at the Graduate School of Human Development and Environment of Kobe University.
She received her Ph.D. in Social Psychology in 2006 from the University of Tokyo. She is the recipient of awards from the Gerongological Society of America, the Japanese society of Social Psychology, Japan NPO Research Association & Japan Socio-Gerontological Society.
Her research theme covers broad topics: social participation, civic engagement, social isolation, social capital, older workers, urbanization, old family studies. She is conducting international comparative research, especially among Asian countries. She initiated action research to prevent social isolation and loneliness among older residents living in suburban housing complexes in 2022.
