Dr. McCrae is a Professor and Assistant Dean of Research in the College of Nursing where she directs the McCrae Sleep Research Lab. Dr. McCrae received a bachelor’s degree in psychology with highest honors from the Pennsylvania State University and a PhD in clinical psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. She competed a postdoctoral fellowship in behavioral sleep medicine at the University of Memphis. Dr. McCrae’s program of clinical research investigates the role of sleep and related biopsychosocial and neurocognitive mechanisms in the context of chronic insomnia and comorbid medical conditions across the lifespan. Dr. McCrae has been continuously funded by NIH since 2003, and her work has resulted in 135+ peer-reviewed articles, 22 chapters, 1 book, and 300+ conference abstracts. Dr. McCrae has an established track record of actively fostering grantsmanship and independence in promising junior clinical scientists. She co-founded the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine (SBSM) in 2008 and served as its President (twice). Dr. McCrae is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal of Behavioral Sleep Medicine anda fellow of the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine and American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
