Full Professor at School of Medicine of Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS),
Permanent Faculty at Graduate Program in Biomedical Gerontology where heads the research team on Public Health and Aging and coordinates the Multiprofessional Care for the Oldest-Old Project. He also coordinates the Program "Assumindo o Controle de sua Saúde" for the Pan American Health Organization (Brazilian branch). He was the President of City Council of the Older-Adults of Porto Alegre (2014-2016), helping the City to integrate the Age-Friendly Communities and Cities network of the World Health Organization; and the Brazilian Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology RS Branch between 2012 and 2014, creating the Interest Groups Program. Graduated in Medicine at Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre (Brazil) in 1983, has specialization on Geriatrics and Gerontology at IGG of PUCRS and on Community Health at the Health Care Unit of Murialdo. Has PhD degree In Medicine from Tokai University, School of Medicine (Japan), with emphasis in Community Health, and post-doctoral degree at National Institute on Aging (USA) and Johns Hopkins School of Public Health (USA). In 2015 did a third post-doctoral training at the Department of Social Participation and Health of the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology. Has experience in Statistic with mayor on longitudinal data analysis, acting on the following subjects: longevity, aging, health promotion, primary prevention, quality of life and preventive geriatrics. Currently, teaches four courses at Master's and Doctoral Programs at the Graduate Program in Biomedical Gerontology of PUCRS: Quantitative Methods of Biomedical Research, Epidemiology and Demography of Ageing, Public Health and Ageing and Social Gerontology. Coordinates the course of Integrated Geriatric Assistance for non-medical professionals.
