Giuliana Casanova is a Peruvian-American Doctoral student in Gerontology and Geriatrics, with a focus on lifelong learning. She moved from Miami, Florida to Portugal in 2018 to pursue her academic journey. Giuliana´s journey into the field of aging studies was fueled by her extensive professional experience as a case manager in managed long-term care, where she worked closely with older adults, making a profound impact on their lives. Giuliana holds two master’s degrees in Social Gerontology and Social Work and a bachelor´s degree in Psychology. She was awarded a Fellowship through the FCT(Foundation for Science and Technology) in Portugal for her doctorate research. She is a non-doctorate researcher with Cintesis, a renowned research center. In addition to her academic pursuits, she serves as the President of the first international GSA student chapter at the University of Aveiro in Portugal.
