Boeun Kim is a postdoctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins University for a project funded by the NIA project of “Reducing racial disparities in AD/ADRD: Addressing structural discrimination and resilience.” She received her PhD in nursing from University of Washington in 2021 and MPH in epidemiology from the same school in 2022. Her dissertation/thesis investigated structural factors such as neighborhood walkability and air quality in relation to cognitive health or physical functioning in older adults. Currently, her work focuses on indicators of structural racism and resilience such as neighborhood food environment and residential segregation and their relationships with cognitive function or dementia among older adults using a lifecourse and intersectionality approach.
