Zhe Feng, M.Ed., is a PhD student at the Department of Applied Psychology and Human Development at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. Taking a cross-cultural perspective, she studies the processes of meaning-making and personal growth through cirtical life events in adults. Currently, she is working on studies that examine Chinese people's implicit theories of wisdom based on their conceptualisations of the ideal image of the wise person, through methods of participant nomination and a scoping review of the literature. She has also studied the characteristics of anti-East Asian and anti-Chinese stigmatising tweets on Twitter since covid-19. Using a mixed method perspective, her PhD thesis investigates the transformative effects of a large scale crisis event, such as the covid-19 pandemic, on people's important life plans and aspirations.
