Jessica Hernandez Chilatra is originally from Bogotá, Colombia. She graduated from Universidad Nacional de Colombia with a BSN and is pursuing her doctorate degree at the McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics at UTHealth Houston. Her area of research involves the use of predicting modeling and machine learning for the care and protection of older adults and their caregivers, as well as the role of nursing in intervening, preventing, and managing elder abuse and mistreatment. Jessica currently works as a graduate research assistant in Dr. Carolyn Pickering's Caregiving Research Lab, where she started to inquire and conduct research on alcohol use among caregivers of people living with dementia.
