Dr. LaRoche is Associate Dean for Research in the College of Health and Human Services and Professor of Exercise Science at the University of New Hamphshire. Dr. LaRoche’s research aims to understand the interplay of neuromuscular, metabolic, and biomechanical function in the limitation of mobility of older adults. In particular, he studies how leg strength and power affect gait quality, walking economy, mobility, and fall risk in older adults, including the modifying role of obesity. He is interested in developing technology for tracking physical activity and movement quality, exercise program delivery, and assistance for independent living. Dr. LaRoche is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, a Past-president of the New England Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine, and serves on the Gait & Posture journal editorial board. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation.
