Toon Vercauteren is a PhD researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). His research focuses on quantitative comparative study of secondary data from databases like SHARE (Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe), EQLS (European Quality of Life Survey) and ELSA (English Longitudinal Study Of Ageing) about the exclusion of multidimensional civic participation in later life at a micro-, meso- and macro levels.
Toon has a Bachelor’s degree in teaching (Dutch-history-economics) and a Master’s Degree in Adult Educational Sciences from Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He started his PhD in 2021 and is currently working in the CIVEX project which is focused on the social exclusion of civic engagement of a diverse older population.
