Dr. Jolie Harris is an Assistant Professor in the graduate program in the School of Nursing at Louisiana State University Health Science Center- New Orleans. She previously held varied operational and leadership positons in acute, post-acute, and managed care companies. Dr. Harris was a gubernatorial appointed member of the Louisiana State Board of Nursing serving for two terms. She has been an active leader and member in organizations including; Louisiana Enhancing Aging with Dignity through Empowerment and Respect (LEADER) organization which advocates for elders to improve quality of care and quality of life in all settings; Louisiana Geriatric Society; Louisiana Dementia Coalition; National Nurse Executive Council for Long Term Care; and The Gerontological Society of America (GSA). Dr. Harris has an interest in culture change in long term care as evidenced by involvement in architectural and operational design to renovate sites across Louisiana. More recently her interest have expanded to explore the role of the NP in an Institutional Special Needs Plan (ISNP) start up in Louisiana.
