Dr. Nicole O. Crawford earned a Bachelor's degree in Gerontology, dual Master's degrees in Social Work and Public Health with a behavioral health focus, and a Doctor of Public Health degree from the University of South Florida. Nicole's doctoral concentration focused on caregivers of persons living with dementia and emergency preparedness. Nicole has experience as both a family and professional caregiver.
Nicole worked as the project coordinator for African Drumming for Dementia, a pilot intervention funded by the Ed and Ethel Moore Alzheimer's Disease Grant. She is the project coordinator at the University of South Florida for a 5-year NIMH R01 multi-site randomized control trial in conjunction with University of Washington, Seattle, and Weill Cornell Medicine, involving comparison of behavioral activation for depressed senior center clients as delivered by master’s level clinicians or older adult volunteers.
Dr. Crawford is the owner and lead therapist of Keep Moving Forward Consulting. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she walks with her clients on their therapeutic journeys, focused on the well-being of adults, older adults, and care partners/caregivers of people living with dementia. Nicole advocates against ageist beliefs and addresses the aging population's needs in her communities through advocacy, educational presentations, individual consultations, and research.
