Kathy Pichora-Fuller is Professor Emerita (Psychology, University of Toronto) and Adjunct Professor (Gerontology, Simon Fraser University). Previously, she was on faculty in the School of Audiology and Speech Sciences at the University of British Columbia (1992-2002). For over three decades, she has translated her research on auditory and cognitive aging to address the rehabilitative needs of adults with age-related hearing and cognitive impairments, with a more recent focus on social engagement and healthy aging, including promoting brain health. She co-authored the paper on hearing for the World Health Organization (WHO) 2015 World Report on Ageing and Health, co-chaired the 2016 World Congress of Audiology (International Society of Audiology), participated in the 2019 WHO World Hearing Forum, contributed to the 2021 WHO World Report on Hearing and was a member of the WHO Technical Working Group on hearing screening in older adults. She represented Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC) at the Public Health Agency of Canada 2018 consultations on dementia and in 2021-22 she chaired the SAC Audiology committee on long-term care (LTC). She is currently the past president of the International Collegium of Rehabilitative Audiology, a representative of the International Society of Audiology on the WHO World Rehabilitation Alliance Working Group on Primary Care, and a member of the Bowen Island Municipality Accessibility Committee in British Columbia, Canada. She is the audiology expert for the Canadian Longitudinal Study of Aging and the Canadian Consortium on Neurodegeneration in Aging. She received the SAC Eve Kassirer Lifetime Achievement Award (2021) and the International Award of the American Academy of Audiology (2014). In 2022, she became a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.
