Victoria Helmly is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Georgia State University. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Georgia State University in 2013. She also received her Master of Social Work with a graduate certificate in Gerontology from Georgia State University in 2016. She worked as the Alzheimer’s & Related Dementias State Plan Coordinator for the Georgia Department of Human Services Division of Aging Services from 2016-2019. Her research is in the intersection of aging and the criminal legal system, including how older people navigate incarceration and re-entry.
