Anne Mitchell PhD teaches at Jefferson University College of Nursing, Philadelphia at the undergraduate level. She also serves as the faculty co-leader for the Health Mentors Program which has 800 students from 12 health professions participate each year in a three semester interprofessional training. Dr. Mitchell is an adult nurse practitioner whose clinical practice concentrates on older adults in the community. Her three main areas of research interest are: 1) older adult mobility and their perception of the built environment, 2) interprofessional health provider education, and 3) elder mistreatment. Anne has made numerous presentations on her research, and most recently was an inaugural mentee in the inaugural cohort of scholars supported by mentorship in the National Collaborative to Address Elder Mistreatment (NCAEM). Dr Mitchell is involved in several professional societies, and was named a Fellow in the Gerontological Society of America where she served as the convener for the Environmental Gerontology Interest Group, an interprofessional research group whose research interests focuses on Age-Friendly initiatives as well aging in place and vulnerable older adults. She also serves on the Research Committee for the Gerontologic Advanced Practice Nurses Association (GAPNA), as Secretary on the Executive Board for the Eastern Nursing Research Society and chair of the Tri-State Sigma Awards Committee. She received her doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania, Master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner at UCLA, and undergraduate degree at the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. Currently, Dr. Mitchell is completing her Master’s in Public Health capstone project on elder mistreatment screening in the Emergency Department at Jefferson University.
