Dr. Yi-Chen Chiu, a distinguished nursing professional, has made remarkable contributions to the field of gerontology. With a PhD in Nursing from the esteemed University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA, her dedication to advancing knowledge and practice in aging and dementia care is evident.
Currently serving as an Associate Professor and the designated contact for international student applications at Chang-Gung University's School of Nursing, Dr. Chiu's influence extends beyond academia. Engaging in international collaborations, she partners with scholars from Taiwan (T), India (I), England (E), and Scotland (S) through the TIES group and the International Research Consortium on Wandering. Their joint efforts focus on understanding neuropsychiatric symptoms of individuals with cognitive impairment and neighborhood characteristics, leaving a lasting impact on older adults' lives.
Her work encompasses funded research projects sponsored by Taiwan's Ministry of Science and Technology Counsel (MSTC). Notably, her projects include an online case management intervention for family caregivers of individuals with cognitive impairment. Recognizing the pivotal role of family members, she strives to empower them with the necessary tools and support.
Beyond this, Dr. Chiu explores multi-dimensional non-pharmaceutical interventions, investigating lifestyle changes and cognitive function in high-risk individuals for cognitive impairment. Her groundbreaking research yields valuable insights into improving the lives of vulnerable populations and extends its reach to community through University Social Responsibility programs.
