Assistant Professor
UT Health SA

I have a broad background in neuroscience and metabolism with extensive training and expertise in the molecular mechanisms underlying age-related diseases, specifically Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and diabetes, with a particular focus on animal model systems and lipid metabolism as documented in my publication list. The overall goal of my laboratory is to unravel molecular mechanisms, primarily those involving lipid pathways, that drive aging and age-related diseases, with a particular focus on brain aging and Alzheimer’s disease, as well as age-associated insulin resistance and diabetes.
As an early investigator, I am committed to pursuing a career as a translational investigator in the field of aging and age-related diseases. I received a career development award (RL5) from the San Antonio Claude D. Pepper Center and Junior Faculty grants from the American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR, PI) and the Alzheimer’s Association (co-PI). In addition, I currently serve as PI, co-PI and co-Investigator on several intramural, NIH, and foundation funded grants including Cure Alzheimer’s Fund.
