David is an Assistant Professor in the Research Division within the Radiology and Imaging Sciences Department at Emory with adjunct appointments in Orthopedics and Biomedical Engineering. His work is dedicated to applying engineering principles to advance imaging, diagnosis, and treatment of human health with an emphasis on the musculoskeletal system. This work focuses on the development and application of quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and spectroscopy (MRS) approaches for use in translational and clinical research. David earned a PhD in Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering at the University of California at Davis in the Biomedical Graduate Group where his work investigated interactions between spine biomechanics and soft tissue strain using MRI. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institute on Aging Intramural Research Program working in the MRI and Spectroscopy Section. He subsequently joined NIA as a staff scientist and Head of the MRI Facility for Translational Research where he expanded the use of quantitative MRI and MRS for the clinical research program on aging. He now directs the Musculoskeletal Research and Quantitative Imaging Laboratory at Emory University.
