Mercedes Bern-Klug is a gerontological social worker. She is a full professor on faculty at the University of Iowa School of Social Work, where she has worked for 20 years. Her area of scholarship is long-term care and supports, with a focus on family involvement nursing home residents, and the role of the nursing home social worker. She developed the Glbal Aging course for the University of Iowa and teaches it in person and online. She is a John A. Hartford Geriatric Social Work Faculty Scholar, a Fulbright Faculty Scholar, a Fellow with the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare, a GSA SRPP Fellow, and lifetime member of the UN Association. She is an affiliate of the UI College of Nursing's Csomay Center for Gerontological Excellence.
