Christine Bishop is an economist with more than 40 years’ experience using microeconomic concepts to investigate policy-related problems in health services workforce, supply, demand, and financing. Her current research concerning the long-term services and supports direct care workforce and the general health sector workforce builds on her background as a labor economist and early research on nursing labor markets. Current projects also include studies of the allocation of home and community-based services, financing constraints that limit access to adult day health services, and smart home technology supporting persons with disability in the community. With a focus on nursing homes, community-based services, and aging, she has led or co-led evaluations of delivery system and payment innovations, developed policy analyses concerning long-term and post-acute workforce, utilization, and payment, and carried out econometric analyses using data derived from national sample surveys and administrative data.
