Dr. Donovan is Professor of Nursing & Medicine and the Co-Director of the National Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Family Support at the University of Pittsburgh.
Over the past 20 years, her federally-funded research has focused on the development and testing of innovative strategies and support systems to help families navigate the challenges of living with advanced cancer. Her current work, funded by the Administration of Community Living / NIDILRR (National Institute for Disabilities, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research), is adapting her team’s previous web and telephone based “SmartCare” intervention for caregivers to an mhealth platform for implementation into cancer care delivery in gynecologic oncology
Dr. Donovan is also the co-founder and Director of the GynOnc Family CARE Center at Magee-Womens Hospital of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where her team provides support and education to family caregivers of patients with gynecologic cancer.
