Li-Fan Liu obtained her PHD in Social Gerontology in 2000 from the Institute of Gerontology, Kings College London, University of London, UK. She has started a tenure track at the Institute of Gerontology, College of Medicine, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan since 2007 where she teaches ‘Aging Policy and Service Delivery’ and been promted to full professor since 2014.
She serves as Vice President of the Gerontological Society of Taiwan (GST) from 2016-2018 and Consultant of the National Elderly Welfare Association (NEWA) since 2014. She is Faculty at the Gerontological Society of America (GSA), Taiwan Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (TSGG) and Faculty at the Taiwan Long-Term Care Professional Association.
In 2017, Prof. Liu received a Fulbright grant of the US and cooperate with the government to start a new research project on long-term care integration care model in Taiwan.(2017-2018 Fulbright-Formosa Plastic Group (for senior research) scholarship, Taiwan)
Prof. Liu’s research is in the field of Social Gerontology. Based on her discipline of Social Policy and Management in Aged Care, her research explores the aging-in-place policies, long-term care service delivery and outcomes, and also innovation of the aged care models in Taiwan. Her recent research centers on the combating ageism and enhancing quality of life of elderly people by deferential aging, including integration of social care into health care system; self-perception of aging, autonomy and intrinsic capacities of elderly people.
