My research line focuses on innovative interdisciplinary interventions for frail older people taking into account innovative care concepts like reablement or function focused care. These concepts have in common that (home) care services are provided in a goal-oriented, holistic and person-centred way, taking into account the capabilities and opportunities of older adults instead of focusing on disease and dependency. I develop and evaluate these intervention in co-creation with relevant stakeholders in the field (clients/ informal caregivers, health and social care professionals, managers, CEOs, etc). I was/ am involved in many pilot studies and several cluster randomised controlled trials. The close collaboration with relevant stakeholders is facilitated by my role as scientific linking-pin at MeanderGroep South Limburg. However, I also closely cooperate with other organisation within and outside the Living Lab in Ageing and Long-term Care (e.g. Dutch Healthcare Authority, Burgerkracht Limburg, UMC Utrecht and Radboud UMC Nijmegen). At international level I collaborate with researchers from the US, UK, Europe and Oceania. For example, I am a member of the international ReAble network. In addition, I am a member of the board of directors of the Dutch association of gerontology and a member of the editorial board of BMC Geriatrics.
