My research is primarily focused on dementia caregiving, aging, and health disparities. I have a particular interest in examining the stress and health outcomes among older adults who are caring for a spouse with dementia. My secondary research interest is to identify the mechanisms that can explain the health disparities among racial/ethnic minority caregivers (e.g., African Americans). My research is inspired by my clinical experiences as a medical social worker, and I am eager to answer the question: How can we better support caregivers who experience stress compounded by aging and caregiving? My ultimate goal is to develop dyadic interventions that improve the health outcomes for both the caregiver and the care recipient.
