Ron Kohanski received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Chicago in 1981. His postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of M. Daniel Lane was followed by faculty appointments at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York and The Johns Hopkins University School Medicine in Baltimore. He joined the National Institute on Aging in 2005 and was appointed Deputy Director in the Division of Aging Biology in 2009, and is now Director of the Division of Aging Biology (since 2020). Together with Felipe Sierra he cofounded the trans-NIH Geroscience Interest Group. He promotes research on rejuvenation and accelerated aging, understanding heterogeneity in aging and discovering interactions among the hallmarks of aging.
