Dr. Alex J. Bishop is a professor in the Human Development and Family Science Department and the Bryan Close Professor of Adulthood & Aging in the College of Education and Human Sciences at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma. Dr. Bishop received his doctorate in Human Development and Family Studies in 2005, specializing in life-span studies with a minor in gerontology, from Iowa State University, Ames, IA. He is a fellow in the Gerontological Society of America and recognized expert in the application of mix-methodologies to theoretical link the interplay between distal and proximal biographical experiences and well-being outcomes among centenarians. Dr. Bishop has also spent over a decade examining forgiveness as an intervention to enhance individual rehabilitation and family relations among aging adults held in correctional custody. Of recent interest, Dr. Bishop has been involved in the development, testing, and application of socially assistive robotic caregiving technologies for in-care settings.
