Dr. Shakira Grant is a clinician-scientist and Geriatric Hematologist-Oncologist investigating cancer, aging, and racial health disparities in older adults with multiple myeloma. Her research delves into patient-caregiver dyadic relationships, aiming to comprehend myeloma's impact on both members of the dyad. Utilizing qualitative and community-based approaches, she identifies contextual factors influencing healthcare access for older Black adults with myeloma. Collaborating with communities, she seeks to develop patient and caregiver-centered interventions that tackle the root causes of healthcare disparities for Black persons with multiple myeloma and other cancers. Nationally, she plays a crucial role in the Cancer and Aging Research Group, leading the Junior CARG group, she is also a member of the ASH Health Equity Taskforce. Dr. Grant's commitment lies in advancing equitable healthcare through transdisciplinary research and collaborations.
