Dr. Shivani Jindal was a Geriatric Medicine physician at the VA Boston Healthcare System working as an attending for hospital in home and inpatient medicine and now currently works at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center as the Director of Transition of Care. She served as an assistant professor of medicine at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. In addition to her clinical role, she serves as the clinical consultant to the VA National Office of Geriatrics & Extended Care – focusing on Home and Community Based Programs. She completed her residency in internal medicine from University of Cincinnati and continued as a Chief Resident in Quality & Safety at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center. After working for 5 years, Dr. Jindal pursued Geriatric Medicine fellowship at Boston University and completed a second-year advanced fellowship at the New England Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center (GRECC) with VA Boston. Since completing her phases of training Dr. Jindal has worked as a hospitalist and educator across multiple care settings in the VA Healthcare System – including inpatient medicine, medicine consults, post-acute care, geriatrics consult clinic and Hospital at Home.
She has strong interests in the quality of care provided to older adults along the care continuum, care innovations and projects that highlight the humanism in medicine. Her current portfolio of work has been focused on the Age-Friendly Health Systems Initiative within the VA system and implementation in various clinical settings.
