Danielle Powell, AuD, PhD completed her Doctorate of Audiology in 2013 from the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill and subsequently worked as a clinical Audiologist in the greater Washington D.C. area. She was based at the George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (2014-2017) before starting her PhD coursework in the Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where she completed her PhD in 2021. Her PhD doctoral research focused on hearing loss and late-life mental health, including the influence of hearing loss on late-life depression and cognitive decline/dementia and completed a post-doctoral fellowship on an NIH funded training program for Health Services and Outcomes Research for Aging Populations. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences at the University of Maryland-College Park. Her research is at the intersection of public health, audiology, gerontology and dementia, caregiving, and health systems.
