Julie Schoen, JD, served as the Deputy Director of the National Center on Elder Abuse, NCEA, funded by the Administration on Community Living (ACL) Her work focuses on information regarding policy, research, training, and resources related to the neglect and exploitation of older adults for policymakers, professionals, and the public. Her experience working with diverse communities and across generations combined with her ability to work on multiple levels with a wide variety of constituencies is her passion and strength.
She is currently the director and lead on designing and deploying the Elder Abuse Guide for Law Enforcement (EAGLE) a project at the behest of the Department of Justice under the auspices of the National Center on Elder Abuse, Keck School of Medicine USC. She works with community partners to implement changes that cross medical, social, mental health and criminal justice systems. She is also certified as a Reframing Elder Abuse expert with the FrameWorks Institute that disseminates a new evidence-based communication strategy on the issue of elder abuse.
A national expert on elder abuse and neglect, Julie has testified in front of Congress and is a frequent keynote speaker, as well as an attorney advocate for Medicare beneficiaries.
