Zainab Toteh Osakwe’06, graduated from the School of Nursing at Adelphi in 2006, and holds a Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Medicine and Dentistry NJ and a PhD in Nursing from Columbia University. Dr. Osakwe is an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing and Public Health at Adelphi University. Her research focuses on improving the delivery of home-based care for PLWD, particularly in the setting of home health care and hospice. Her work is focused on improving home healthcare nursing workforce outcomes, goal-concordant care for older adults in the home health care setting with attention to nurse-patient/caregiver communication during the end of life period for Black and Hispanic PLWD and their caregivers. She is currently a Healthcare Systems Scholar under the NIA IMPACT Collaboratory in clinical partnership with the Visiting Nurse Association Health Group (VNAHG)— one of the nation's largest nonprofit independent providers of home health and hospice, this partnership is established with the goal of conducting pragmatic Alzheimer's disease and Related Dementias Clinical Trials.
